Rubber tapping in process in Kerala (India) The blue and green canopy you see is a protective cover so that rain water does not fall into the coconut shell. The shell is used to collect the rubber sap that flows down the tree trunk.

Joe, This is an awesome image! I have always be so interested in rubber tapping of trees. Ever since that movie from the 1980's I think.. FITZCURALDO... (probably not spelled right) but the true story movie with Claus Kinsky about him on his boat and trying to get rubber out of the trees in the orchard he bought. Not even sure I remember the whole story. Anyways...... this picture reminded me of that.. So interesting.. fav'd and voted of course!
